Circle City Ringers
Identity and print design

The Circle City Ringers is a bronze-level community handbell ensemble in Indianapolis, Indiana. I joined CCR in 2006 as a ringer. I have served on the Board of Trustees and provided design services to the group over the years.

In 2024, we celebrated our 20-year anniversary and I created a t-shirt to mark the occasion. Our colors are black, maroon, and gold, with white accents. I wanted a t-shirt color that contrasted well with maroon or gold while looking professional. I chose medium heather gray for the shirt and gold for the main design. I helped design our logo back in 2006. It features a stylized vibrating bell in the shape of the letters CCR. Clever, right?

For years, we would set up a marketing table in the lobby of our performance venues that displayed a trifold presentation board, business cards, and printed brochures. When it was time to update the group photos on the trifold yet again, I decided we needed a change. So I replaced the trifold with a retractable banner. At 72 inches tall, the banner has a greater impact than the trifold, and when retracted into its case, the banner is considerably smaller and lighter to transport. A small QR code on the banner links to our website, functional from 3 to 4 feet away. This eliminated the need for business cards and printed brochures. Huzzah!

I didn’t have any high-resolution images for such a large banner, so I created a vector illustration of a bell. Our slogan, “Bells like you’ve never heard them before,” is spot on. You can check out our performance videos through the link below.

In addition to print design, I also create occasional content for our social media. Below is a recent time-lapse video of our setup before a performance. We have sixteen members, including our director, and everyone helps with setup and teardown.
